Frequently asked questions

What wedding dress style will suit me?

There are different types of styles when it comes to wedding dresses. Don’t let that worry you though, here at The Bridal Box we’ll talk you through each style and make recommendations based on your shape. To help you understand it a little better, the most common style of wedding dresses are:

A-line: This style of dress is fitted at the hips and gradually flares out from the waistline to the train, perfect for all styles as it’s a really flattering fit and creates a beautiful silhouette.

Ballgown: This style can definitely be classed as a ‘princess dress’, they come with large, full skirts and are flattering for all shapes. They suit those who may want to skim anything below their waistline, they pull you in in all the right places and gives a fabulous shape.

Fit and Flare: This dress is very much as it describes! It fits on your top half and tends to flare out from the point just below your hips.  A great style for those wanting to show off their figure.

Sheath: This style tends to be figure hugging and is classed as a slim cut that will follow your body’s natural curve.

Tea Length: This delightful style is shorter in length than all other dresses and can go from mid length to even shorter. A very fun style to wear!

Mermaid: This style is fitted until the lower part of the dress and then flares out at the bottom. Again, a great style for those wanting to show off their figure but still have a bit of an extra ‘wow’ factor at the bottom of the dress.

What is a 'Designer Event'?

A designer event is an opportunity to come and see the dresses or accessories from a designer's new collection before everyone else, all within the privacy of your own appointment. The designer's showcase their new designs by sending us more dresses, giving you more choice from the designers you love. If you're looking to be wowed and have the opportunity to be really spoilt for choice then designer events are perfect for you. They are booked by appointment only and are private. They often come with discounts if you choose your dress or accessories over the event period so definitely worth a booking!

How much do your dresses cost?

Our prices range from £1800 - £3500 price range, however the average price of our gowns is £2500. Our sample dresses range from as little as £600 (please visit our 'Off The Peg' page for the dresses available in our sample range).

How long does it take to order a wedding dress?

It can vary on each designer but for some it can take a minimum of 16 weeks from placing the order to it arriving. However we do stock a range that we can get into stock in 7 weeks (in some cases 3 weeks). If you do need a dress quicker from our other ranges, we can sometimes rush orders through (there may be an extra cost for this) or you could choose from our sample dress range which are available to buy immediately. It's worth bearing in mind that alterations can take an additional 6-8 weeks so that needs to be planned into the overall timescales.

What should I wear to a bridal appointment?

We advise that you come in neutral coloured underwear wherever possible and whilst you might not always need it, a strapless bra can sometimes help.

Who can I bring with me to the bridal appointment?

That’s up to you! We recommend bringing people who will be supportive but also challenge you if needed. Ultimately, they will be there to support and guide you on your choices so choose wisely! We normally don’t recommend bringing more than 3 people as it can sometimes be difficult to take on everyone’s views at once.

How long will my bridal appointment last?

Each appointment is booked in for up to 2 hours but (appointments permitting) if you need more time then we are happy for it to take longer. We want to make sure you enjoy your time with us and don’t feel rushed so we’ll do all we can to make you feel comfortable.

Will there be other appointments happening at the same time as mine?

No, once you are in the boutique, we close the doors, and our attention is all yours for the duration of the appointment!

Do you sell bridal accessories?

Yes we do, and you can try them on during your appointment to finish off your look!

Do you charge for your bridal appointments?

We do charge a booking deposit but it is fully redeemable against your dress if you purchase one during your appointment. We do ask that if you can’t attend your appointment you give us at least 48 hours’ notice so we can open the appointment back up.

What can I do on the day of my appointment whilst I have all my family and friends together?

We are lucky enough to be situated in the beautiful town of Stocksbridge, not far from Fox Valley retail park. Visit the many restaurants or drink cocktails and prosecco at the pubs and wine bars available. You might as well make a day of it!
